How to Get in Shape

With the summer getting closer and closer, many people are looking to get in the best shape of their lives. Unfortunately, it is a gradual process and will most likely take more than three months. However, there are three basic steps that one has to follow to get into great shape. The health and fitness industry loves to market worthless supplements and programs that simply are not needed. In this article, I’m going to be breaking down these top three steps and why they are important.

1. Diet
Diet is the most important factor when it comes down to how good you look. If you have a horrible diet, it will reflect in your physique. First, cut out all of the junk food out of your diet. If you are going to eat a sugary treat, keep it to a minimum. Make sure that you are hitting your macros and that they align with your fitness goals. Another step to this is that you make sure you track your weight every morning. At the end of the week, average these weights and see if you made progress. All in all, eat healthy foods that back up your fitness goals.

2. Workout
The exercises that you perform should align with your overall fitness goal. If you are looking to build size, incorporate a lot of compound exercises into your workout routine. These exercises include bench press, squats, deadlifts, and rows. These exercises incorporate the most amount of muscle and therefore produce the greatest amount of results in the shortest time. If you are looking to lose weight, do a lot of high-intensity interval training. This burns the most fat and retains the most muscle.

3. Sleep
In general, the average gym goer should sleep 8-9 hours every single night, especially on days you workout. If you don’t make sleep a priority, you won’t see the results that you truly deserve and desire. All in all, keep your sleeping schedule as consistent as possible.
