A lot of people are looking to get into shape for this upcoming summer. In fact, health is one of the most common new year’s resolutions shared among the population. However, many are uneducated when it comes to becoming fit and staying fit. They are bombarded with horrible health advice in fitness magazines, buying countless supplements that are overpriced and do nothing. In this article, I’m going to be breaking down the 3 things that will help you get in shape and give you the body you deserve. Let’s get started!

1. Diet
What you eat is by far the most important factor in maintaining a healthy physique. It’s not just what you eat but how much you eat. If your goal is to get lean and lose some pounds for the summer, find out how many calories your body needs to maintain its body weight. Then, subtract your daily caloric consumption by 300-500 calories. If your goal is to build muscle, eat 300-500 calories above maintenance daily. Track your weight in the morning throughout the week. Then, average the 7 measurements and that will be your most accurate body weight. Make it a goal to gain or lose one pound per week depending on your fitness goals

2. Workout
Having an effective workout is crucial if you want a great physique. If your goal is to lose weight, focus on high intensity cardio like jump rope and burpees. If your goal is to gain muscle, focus on compound lifts like deadlifts, squats, bench press, and overhead press. These compound movements work the most muscle groups, resulting in faster muscle growth.

3. Sleep
Sleep is very underestimated in the modern world. Sleeping gives your body a chance to rebuild. Sleep also balances your hormones which is critical for staying healthy both physically and emotionally. Overall, try to get 7-8 hours of sleep per night while maintaining a consistent sleeping schedule.
