Good Will Hunting” is an American film produced by Lawrence Bender in 1997. Not only was it nominated for nine Academy Awards, two of which it won, but it was also nominated for an Oscar. The producer, Lawrence Bender, is well known for his countless contributions to the film industry. Lawrence Bender has been producing films since the late 1980’s and he has been responsible for many high quality productions over the last couple decades, three of which have received Oscar nominations: “Good Will Hunting,” “Pulp Fiction,” and “Inglourious Basterds.” Over the course of his career, he has received a litany of awards, including three Academy Award nominations for best picture. After attending UMaine, Lawrence Bender initially wanted to pursue his passion for dancing but unfortunately suffered an injury that eventually led him towards film production. In the following years, he grew increasingly involved in the film industry and has produced a number of famous movies and documentaries.

As one of Lawrence Bender’s most successful productions, “Good Will Hunting” has served as an American favorite. In this touching story starring Robin Williams, Matt Damon, Minnie Driver, Ben Affleck, and Stellan Skarsgård, an intelligent, young janitor named Will Hunting is forced to confront his past and encouraged to make something of his life. Will surprises one of the professors at MIT by completing a difficult math problem, but his priorities are not centered around education. He spends his time drinking with his friends and ends up getting arrested for assaulting a police officer. The professor recognizes Will’s talent and decides to help him out. The professor helps Will strike a deal where he will stay out of prison as long as he studies mathematics and receives therapy. After several failed attempts at therapy, the professor decides to reach out to his college roommate who is currently teaching psychology. While the initial lessons do not go well, Will eventually opens up and begins to overcome the traumatic events of his past. Will and his therapist, Sean, have a mutually beneficial relationship and they both end up growing from their sessions together.
