Today there are a lot of social and economic problems facing the world’s population. There are many people struggling to escape social injustice. Unfortunately these people do not have the power monetary or otherwise to succeed in getting that which they really want. This is where human rights organizations similar to the Lacey and Larkin Fund come in to provide civil, human and migrant rights advocacy.
There are a number of organizations that are involved in this include Amnesty International, Global Rights, International Federation for Human Rights, American Association for Affirmative Action, Innocence Project, Council on American-Islamic Relation, Joyce Foundation and the Larkin and Lacey foundation.
Amnesty International is an international human rights organization that was founded in 1961 by Peter Benenson. The organization focuses on the rights of women, children, and minority groups. It also fights for refugee rights, works to end torture and the death penalty.

The Innocence Project as the name suggests works to ensure that people convicted of crimes they did not commit are found innocent. The organization was founded in 1992 and is headed by Maddy deLone.
They predominantly help people for whom DNA evidence exists to test or retest. The Joyce Foundation that gets its name from the Joyce family was founded in 1948 by Beatrice Joyce Kean. The organization based in Chicago, Illinois aims at cutting down gun violence, providing education and providing employment opportunities.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations is a not for profit organization founded by Nihad Awad in 1994. The organization aims at advocating the rights of Muslims. It has fought for the rights of Muslim women to wear hijab, fights against profiling and discrimination of Muslims. The organization is funded by donations and accepts them from Muslims and people of other religions.
The American Association for Affirmative Action works to fight for equality within the society. It is made up of people working to enhance equal opportunity, affirmative action and diversity. AAAA holds an annual awards ceremony that aims at appreciating these professionals. All these organizations and so many others focus on ensuring that the minority be it regarding gender, race, religion or immigration status are treated with fairness and respect.

The Larkin and Lacey Fund was formed by Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin who are journalists by profession. Michael and Jim are also the founders of the Village Voice Media. The organization aims at promoting the rights of Immigrant people, especially in the Hispanic community.
Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin’ organization is also keen on protecting the freedom of speech and the existence of a free press. The organization supports other organizations that are involved in the fight for human dignity. The Lacey and Larkin Fund has also received awards including the award for Best Political Blog by the Phoenix Magazine in the year 2016.
