Alexis Sanchez’s future at Arsenal is becoming increasingly uncertain, despite manager Arsene Wenger standing his ground that the Chilean striker is not for sale. On his part, Sanchez is willing to do everything in his power to push for an exit, mainly because Arsenal is not playing in the UEFA Champions’ League next season. The competition brings together the elite European clubs, and Sanchez has made it clear that his wish is to be part of the competition next season.
Manchester City Interest
Big-spenders Manchester City was the first to bid for Sanchez, but the bid was thrown out. It is, however, understood that Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City manager, is still keen on getting Sanchez on board. Guardiola and Sanchez worked together before at Barcelona, where they won everything.
There could be hope for Arsenal though. Yesterday, The Manchester Evening News quoted Pep Guardiola saying that he is happy with the depth in his current squad, implying that his interest in Alexis could be fading away. He said that with Aguero and Gabriel both available, his striking force is strong enough to take-on defenders as soon as the league starts next month.
With Man City seemingly out of the race, PSG now appears to be the front-runners in the pursuit of Alexis. The French big-spenders are said to be eying the striker as it tries to bolster its attack ahead of next season. The club’s dominance of the French League One was cut short by Monaco last season, with Monaco beating them to the title last season. Adding Sanchez to their squad, PSG will be in a good position to reclaim the title as well as compete for the UEFA Champions League trophy.
